65 - Gallo Pinot Noir - $3.99

I ran across a $3.99 bottle of Gallo Pinot Noir at the local Aldi's food store. Pinot Noir for $3.99, I should have known better but like a moth to the flame I had to sample it. From the time I opened the bottle I could tell it was of low quality. The clarity and color were below average and the aroma was strange to say the least. It smelled like teaspoon of dirt mixed into a glass of water. The balance was out of whack, with a very high acidity. The taste was green to say the least. I rated this wine a 65.5 and advise all to stay away from it.

76 - 2006 Woodbridge Cabernet Sauvignon - $4.50

I purchased a 1.5L bottle of Woodbridge Cabernet for $8.99 at the Binny's Liquor store which would equal $4.50 for a regular bottle. I had heard good things about Woodbridge and unfortunately I was disappointed. The wine appears to be well produced, it had good clarity and better than average aroma. The texture was slightly on the thin side and the taste was simple but agreeable. It had very short finish and the overall quality was less than I expected. I rate it a 76. an average wine at this price wage.
